My Vet's the Best National Contest
Every year, Pets Best recognizes veterinarians that go above and beyond with cash prizes and a trip to the Western Veterinary Conference. Tell us your story about why your vets the best, and help them continue providing for pets and pet owners.
"There are so many animals that need our help, and thanks to these funds, we’ll be able to do even more in our community—all because a client submitted a nomination!"
- Dr. Nichols, 2015 My Vet's The Best grand prize winner
In 2010, Pets Best Pet Health Insurance became the nation’s first pet insurance company to develop a contest to recognize the best veterinarians in the U.S. Each year, thousands of veterinarians are nominated by grateful pet owners. Their stories include heartwarming and sometimes harrowing tales of why they believe their veterinarian is truly the best. Past My Vet’s the Best winners have used their prize money to nurse an abused dog back to health, treat and vaccinate pets in impoverished areas, and treat a stray kitten with a ruptured eye.
The My Vet’s the Best contest and its finalists have been featured in the Chicago Tribune, Veterinary Practice News, and many other media outlets.
Nominating Your Veterinarian
Our online form makes it easy for you to nominate your vet. Your story doesn’t have to be long, but it should include details about how your vet helped your pet specifically, as well as information about any pet-related charity or organizations your veterinarian may support.
You can nominate your veterinarian at any time. However, if you nominate your veterinarian and they don’t make into the finalist round, you will need to nominate them again to be considered for the next round of finalists/voting. All finalists in the calendar year will be entered into the running for the Grand Prize title and prize.
Prizes and Awards
$1,000 to treat needy pets: Each winning veterinarian and the Grand Prize Winner.
$200 prize: Each nominator with a winning story.
Grand Prize Winner: A trip for 2 to the Western Veterinary Conference.
All nominated veterinarians get: A printed certificate of recognition, official contest seal for your website, and a window cling contest seal.
How Many Veterinarians Win?
Three times per year, a Pets Best committee of veterinarians and technicians selects 8 finalists from the hundreds of nominees. The public then votes to choose the winner.
In addition, at the end of the year, a panel of veterinary peers will choose a Grand Prize Winner from the pool of finalists from that year.
When voting is open, you can vote on the Pets Best Facebook page.
