Several months ago I woke up and found my dog Bella having a hard time, she couldn't get up, she just was not acting right. A neighbor helped me get her into my car and I immediately went to our Vet's office. He and one of his nurses came out right away and carried Bella in on a stretcher, they put Bella on oxygen right away and were trying to make her comfortable. He was also trying to calm me while telling me everything he was doing. Bella passed about 10-15 minutes later. Of course I lost it and just was heart broken. Dr. Smith told me to stay with her as long as I needed to. I was trying to get a hold of my daughter who was very close to Bella, she wasn't answering, Dr. Smith said to go get her and bring her back. He put Bella in a room and when we got back, he said to spend as much time as we wanted. He also wanted to find out what caused Bella to pass. After a while we left. A few days later Dr. Smith phoned my daughter (I am deaf) and told her what may have been the cause of Bella's death. He did not charge me for an autopsy. I could not afford the cremation, Dr. Smith took care of it for me. He really went out of the way to comfort and help me. Bella was in good hands.
