Mraco Polo lost most of his "deep pain," so it was possible that he would not ever be able to walk with his back legs again. Marco's only 5 years old, so we opted for the surgery, knowing it would be a long road ahead. In the first week of January 2013, Dr. Tyler Klose diagnosed Marco with Atypical Addison's Disease. On January 21, 2013, Dr. Jacob Odders performed emergency back surgery (totally unrelated to the Addison's) on Marco. The day after his surgery was Marco's first physical therapy appointment with Dr. Kristin Luginbill. She works a lot with proprioception, acupuncture, laser therapy, and the underwater treadmill. Marco recovered amazingly well (and faster than the average dog in his situation). Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists works as a close-knit team, and that's what gets them the great results. Not only that, they seem to know all of the local vets, and that's how my regular vet (who is also amazing - Dr. Jeffrey Baker at Crawford Animal Hospital in Greenfield, WI) knew to refer us to Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists. Excellent communication is key. These doctors aren't afraid to contact other vets in order to make the most accurate diagnoses. They are also always studying, researching, and learning more in order to better serve their customers and successfully treat more dogs. I have peace of mind with them. Marco is playful again because of the whole chain of treatments.
