We were long term clients for the past ten years with multiple dogs being seen here, who as of today will no longer be using Fulshear Animal Hospital. Our two Weimaraners have been seen by Dr. Baird since they were weeks old. It has become apparent that the volume of clients has increased over the years due to the growth of the surrounding area. In turn this has caused a drastic decrease in the professional kind quality of care received here. Dr. Baird is overwhelmed by the number of clients sitting in her waiting room and rushes through appointments with an argumentative rude demeanor (as also noted in other reviews!) and with little care to invest any real time in thoroughly evaluating the patient.
The practice is only managed by one Vet and when she is out of town you are left to fend for yourself. In the past we were willing to endure this possibility because we felt we could trust her professional knowledge and her approach was reasonable with consideration to extent and cost of care.
On June 30th our female needed to be seen for what turned out to be an ulcerated mast cell tumor. When attempting to make an appointment, I was told she was out of office until 7/5 and was triple booked for days upon her return. We sought another vet and Zoey was diagnosed with the MCT which also turned later into diabetes. As you can imagine the stress of having to go see another vet during a health crisis and then having to managing the new diagnoses was a stressor. Thankfully the care we received from Dr. Duff at Cross Creek Animal Hospital was night and day different. He got down on the floor with Zoey and was extremely gentle. He listened at length to me and also was very flexible in his treatment.
After the surgery to remove the tumor, we continued to see Dr. Duff for management of her diabetes. With her diabetes being more in range, I made an appointment with Fulshear Animal Hospital to loop Dr. Baird back in and return to her care. During our visit today she was extremely rude and quick to refer us to an Internist. Unfortunately, Cross Creek Animal Hospital had not sent over the recent records as requested, so in Dr. Baird’s defense she did not have prior records to evaluate. However, she was extremely reluctant to spend any time understanding the recent occurrences and when I offered to show her the glucose curves conducted, she went as far as stating “with 63 other appointments today that does not allow for me to get a chance to review the information.” It was at that moment my prior suspensions were confirmed, too many patients not enough time. Not a position you want your elderly dog with chronic health concerns to be seen in. She also went to the extent of rudely commenting with a snarky tone “it’s too bad that diabetes has finally put her at an ideal weight.”
If you are looking for a vet that is uncompassionate and more about the volume of patients than actually caring about what is going on with your dog or cat then this place works. I am thankful for position we were in to open our eyes to what our dogs veterinary care could be. After today's visit we know now that we care way too much to allow our beloved dogs to endure this. With the areas growth there are fortunately also now other options for compassionate, kind, professional veterinary care in the Katy/Fulshear area. Hopefully you will choose wisely!
