Last year I recieved the call no mommy wants to get. My chinese crested was hit by a truck and trailer. He was taken to our local vet and they gave me two options. Euthanasia or sending him to Dr. Mayfield 45 minutes away. I looked down at the lifeless, bloody body of the angel I had come to love unconditionally and knew that euthanasia was not an option. He some how made the 45 mile drive with shallow respirations and obvious blood in the lungs. Unable to see his surroundings I ran into Animal Medical Center where Dr. Mayfield met me with immediate action. My babies lifeless body layed on the table as I cried histerically. Dr. Mayfield had D'Ville checked up in down within seconds. He never spoke a word of negativity. He was positive the entire time while encouraging me to stay hopeful. He took my hands and prayed with me for peace. He sat and comforted me after my baby was scanned from head to toe numerous times. He always remained calm and positive. I left that night and woke up to a text message with a picture of D'Ville. Dr Mayfield called me that morning to say he had sustained a massive head injury, a collapsed lung, severed tendons in both legs, severe heart trauma and almost 50 percent of his body was road rash. 6 days later he came home with his me. Dr Mayfield calls Dville a miracle. I call him one.

Dr. Martin has been my vet for over 30 yrs. He makes housecalls or goes out of his way to meet you closer to home. I have never had a dog that did not want to walk right into the hospital, they simply are not afraid. And the detail he explains if surgery is necessary, even showing pictures! I have to drive 80 miles round trip to take all my dogs now and in the past to him . And a very gentlemanly man.
