We joined with 6 dogs and 3 cats, but became a 501c3 cat rescue in a state that has kitten season all year- slowish or it's raining kittens season. I cannot begin to say how much he has helped us help cats.
In 2022, he saw around 50 animals, mostly rescues. A lot were very sick and needed procedures, surgeries, and overnight stays. Not only did he give us the time, and kindness, he has also donated his services to the rescue/cats. Technically, he is our biggest donor, just not in the traditional sense.
This is the ONLY vet that I will trust with making a decision in my absence as his ideals usually align with mine. A lot of vets are quicker to suggest euthanasia or removal of problem body parts. I understand that vets see so many pet owners that cannot or will not care for a special needs pet, but others would move mountains if it means they have just the smallest chance. He believes animals deserve a chance, but does not believe in suffering. We choose the healing approach as an animal may find their permanently disfigured leg useful, even if it looks funny to us.
With his own menagerie of misfits in his office, he understands that different doesn't mean in pain or miserable, but can be pain free and happy, whether or not we think it is "ideal" enough.
