Ill keep this nightmare as short as possible. Brought my cat to Dr. Walker for distemper/rabies shot and wellness exam 2 years ago. He gave her shot and checked cat out. I asked him if we should clean her ears cause I thought they were a little waxy. He then took huge long qtips and started really digging in her ears to the point I said something to him. He said she had a clean bill of health and we left. As soon as I got home and let cat out carrier she started howling and when I looked at her her pupils were different sizes. I called his after hour line since we literally just left his office and a girl answered and was talking all slow wanting to know what was wrong. All I could do was give her my name and number for Dr. Walker to call me back asap. She hung up on me. I tried calling her back and she wouldnt answer. I had to call my mom and have her call from a different number to get them to answer the phone. By the time Dr. Walker called back I was already at metropolitan. Here the vet punctured my cats ear drum and has caused my cats face to twitch to this day! He never apologized but he did pay for half the cost of emergency care. My cat is still messed up years later.

Gateway Animal Hospital and Veterinarian Dave Walker have taken care of every dog my family has had for nearly 25 years. They are exceptional, and all of our four legged friends have lived long, healthy lives and had every illness and accident treated with care, compassion and love by the entire staff at Gateway, with Dr. Walker taking a personal interest in each one’s personality and care. It’s a rare doctor that remembers a single patient’s idiosyncrasies two decades later - even rarer when that patient is an animal - but Dr. Walker does, and his entire staff is kind, capable and wonderful with their patients as well.
Everyone should be so lucky as to have a clinic and a doctor like what we have at Gateway.

In the Spring of 2009, we adopted Samson, a pure bred Bernese Mountain Dog, with a proclivity for getting himself in trouble. He's required three surgeries in the three years we've owned him, all for removing foreign bodies from his intestinal track. Though the first two procedures were handled by an emergency vet, in each case we relied on the guidance of the doctors and staff at Gateway to make important decisions regarding the health of our handsome boy. During our second stint in the emergency vet, my husband somehow got his hands on Dr. Walker's personal cell phone number. So worried about the condition of our dog that he couldn't sleep, my husband called Dr. Walker at almost 2am! Dr. Walker didn't seem to notice the time. His compassion for our predicament was admirable - he talked my husband through a difficult decision. His willingness to indulge us is so obviously beyond the call of duty. We were fortunate to have Dr. Walker perform Samson's third surgery. With each one, the procedure gets trickier and more dangerous for the pup. I can't imagine feeling safer with Samson anywhere else. We're just over a year surgery free, but the good folks at gateway haven't forgotten us! They check in often, ask about our new baby girl, and remain an important part of our community. While we hope we don't see them again anytime soon, it's immensely comforting to know Dr. Walker and his team are right around the corner!
