Dr. Applewhite saw him immediately and did surgery the same day after explaining his injury and the best treatment. He stayed in contact that day and the next day updating me and took time to explain everything. Metropolitan veterinary specialists are wonderful to work with and go above and beyond in caring for pets. Everything is spotlessly clean and wonderful staff.

To have the dog assessed was $600.Upon assessment, we were informed that she would need to stay overnight. Another $1,200 If we didn’t pay we were told to take the dog home to die. $1,800 later we were told to go home. The next morning Dr. Owens explained that our dogs stomach was “huge” and that she needed to place a tube to drain her, $500. Less than two hours later Dr. Owens called back to say that they got “too busy” to place the tube and our dog had died. $2,300 later and we had to bring our deceased dog home. On Monday I called, Dr. Owens picked up the phone. She explained that our dog did not die from neglect, she died from a neurological issue that she couldn’t explain. The story changed from stomach issues to neurological issues. She said that another critical animal came in that she had to see, but then continued to say our dog was not left unmonitored because Dr. Owens had her 10 feet away from her desk. Today I received a call from Barbra. She had Dr. Smith on the phone with her. He never assessed our dog, just reviewed our “complaint”. He continued to give a very drawn out explanation on how he THINKS our dog died due to neurological issues. He explained that plenty of animals don’t get tubes placed due to owners not agreeing to pay for it. We did consent, and they did not place the tube.

BEWARE! They killed my dog. I took my 9 year old Australian Shepherd to see Dr. Catherine Daley in internal medicine after being referred by my vet for breathing problems. We agreed on a CT scan, rhinoscopy, and potentially a biopsy if she found suspicious lesions in his nasal passages. She did the scope, there were irritated areas, but she was pretty certain it was rhinitis and no cancer was present. She continued with the biopsies anyway. When my dog was waking up in recovery the spots that she biopsied began to bleed again. They put him back under, his heart stopped and they were unable to get him back. The biopsies later confirmed no cancer. I think that they overdosed him on propofol. They did not offer an autopsy and we were too shocked/upset to think about it until the next day when it was too late. I believe she only did the biopsy to increase our vet bill as it requires an overnight stay, additional lab work, etc. She has no bed side manner and we were not allowed access to our dog's chart or her notes - it took several weeks to get the full picture of what happened. Go to Blue Pearl I wish I had.

Dr. Redmon was very thorough and explained everything in understandable detail. I wish he could be our regular vet. Liam had vomiting and diarrhea which would not go away. We were told that Parvo could still be a possibility despite being inoculated. The simple test ruled it out. Since Liam ( a 7 month old Yorkie) will eat anything an X-ray was recommended. The blood panel was normal. We were feeding Dr. Marty’s freeze dried raw diet. Dr Redmon suggest a change and explained why. He’s a good guy and is very trustworthy.

I was referred to Dr. Applewhite for a TPLO surgery on my baby, Scout. You could just tell the first time talking to him that he was a very caring vet. The first week Scout was doing good, but I still had questions. I called Dr. Applewhite everyday with a question, which he responded quickly back to every call. I apologized for calling so often and he actually thanked me for being so concerned about Scout's health. The second week Scout became ill. I rushed him to the clinic where Dr. Applewhite was waiting for me two hours after he was supposed to get off. While Scout was responding to fluids, Dr. Applewhite informed me of complications. He stated he would be the one that called in the night if something was wrong. Devastatingly, Scout took a turn for the worse and passed away two hours after arriving at the clinic. Dr. Applewhite's sincerity and compassion made a horrible situation a little more bearable. He tried to assure me I did everything I could, despite my being inconsolable. It was greatly appreciated later though. I recieved a card from him and the clinic within a week. However, he called Scout's other vet. (whom I recieved a card from) and he sent me another card a month later. Dr. Applewhite is the kind of vet. we all hope we are fortunate enough to find. Kind, compassionate, and loves what he does...and it shows.
