I used to love this practice until they refused to prescribe my diabetic, blind dog his insulin until i got very expensive blood work done. This dog is blind and very anxious and cannot ride in a car without getting more anxious. We have chosen not to treat him other than comfort measures and now we have to get a new vet and start from square one just because they wanted to order unnecessary tests. My dog was stable and i dipped his urine weekly to check if he was spilling glucose and i know his sugars were stable. If they didn't charge a 70 dollar office fee on top of the medical stuff then people would be more willing to bring their animals in when necessary. I am a nurse and I know by how my dog acts whether is glucose is elevated or too low. I just need his insulin so he doesn't die.
