Our family recently had 3 geriatric cats which all got terminal illnesses one after the other. Dr. Shannon and her staff were most compassionate with their care and treatment up until the day we had to make the decision that their quality of life was gone. She recognizes that pets are a part of people's families and did what she could to extend our cats lives and make them comfortable, yet she was honest and caring when we needed to hear that their quality of life was gone. All during their treatment and the continued preventive care for our dogs, we have witnessed multiple animals that Dr. Shannon has treated, saved, fostered and adopted. Because I can't do justice to the story in so few words, go to www.cherryknollsveterinaryclinic.com, About Cherry Knolls Veterinary Clinic and scroll down to read about the animal family that lives in the clinic because they require such special care it is hard to find them a home. The caption about Mila, the black lab mix doesn't begin to describe the true injuries the dog sustained before arriving in Dr. Shannon's care. Because the dog is in a wheelchair and it is hard to find a home which can accomodate the kind of care the dog requires, Dr. Shannon has adopted Mila. She often does this treatment and the cost of continued care at her own expense, and is quite deserving of this award.
