There are many veterinary hospitals in Santa Cruz county but there is a reason why SVVC was voted 2015 Best Veterinarian in the weekly local paper. That reason is felt by our clients the moment they walk in the door and throughout their pets entire life. In truth, there are several reasons why we are loved by the community. Compassion, dedication, knowledge, skill, and teamwork are just a few words that could be used to describe our family. Although, I am an employee of SVVC and not a client I felt it important to nominate SVVC in the interest of helping animals in need. So many of our clients have financial difficulties. To have a "Rainy Day" fund could literally save a life. In particular Dr. Emily Miller deserves recognition as the new future of SVVC. Currently she works along side her father and practice owner, Dr. Charles Miller. As a new grad of Davis's school of Veterinary Medicine she brings her knowledge and youthfulness to a practice that has been here since 1960 and owned by Dr. Miller SR for 25 years. Her pleasant personality, commitment to her patients, and love of the job will surely keep the legacy alive. SVVC is a wonderful hospital full of love and commitment for all the clients and patients we care for and would be honored to win as Best Vet.

My poor Zeus was a lemon. The best lemon. Had a Hail Mary diagnosis of Addison's disease at 2. We then came to pets best for insurance for the "serious stuff". The serious stuff did happen at age 4. He was diagnosed with condro sarcoma which was operable. Unfortunate our little big guy didn't do well with surgery due to the addisons limiting the meds he could take. We took him home unable to walk. Dr smith drove an hour to make sure we had our sick bed set up properly and that his vitals were good and the catheter didn't shift in transport. She is an amazing woman and unfortunately we lost our poor boy due to infection and probably stress. But we had him for 2 more weeks at home to give him all our love. He just couldn't fight anymore. RIP my 4 1/2 rottie baby.

Dr. Em values building lasting relationships with the clients and our pets. We appreciate her warm, welcoming demeanor and her excitement for the profession. Dr. Em has a wide range of special interests in veterinary medicine, and her Shih Tzu named Oscar is a real joy. When I had to put my dog, Goya, to sleep, she was compassionate and effective without tearing up (unlike me, who was sobbing)...I hope that you'll agree that Dr. Em is the best vet ever!

My cat, Punkin, had a problem with her teeth so I thought I would try Larkspur cat clinic. Dr. Smith and his staff were wonderful with Punkin and got her taken care of. I have continued to take both cats, who have since been diagnosed with thyroid disease and high blood pressure, to see Dr. Smith every few weeks. His staff is wonderful with them and it is apparent that all of them really love cats. I have recommended the Larkspur Cat Clinic and especially Dr. Smith to all of my friends who have cats and I would never think of using another vet for my very precious "loved ones".

Dr. Harika goes above and beyond his duty. Although there is an emergency 24 hour clinic right up the road he has met me after hours and even on his only day off.. Sunday to care for one of my furry loves. He truly cares for the animals and never recommends our provides unneeded services. If something is not familiar to him, he will not pretend to know.. He will pull out his handy dandy book and look it up. He is so trust worthy, caring and honest. I'm so lucky to have him as my vet!

I’d like to nominate Dr Decosta because back in 2007 when my cat was still alive and he was very sick one Saturday morning, I called 4 other vets and they’d not take me because they were booked with other apps. Cypress vet hospital owned by Dr Decosta was the only one that gave me an emergency app even though they were booked that morning and I was a first time customer. Also we travel a lot to Mexico and they always make sure I have all the documents I need for Casper’s trip and if I need something faxed to Mexico they always do. Also they have their open house/custom contest every october and the photo with Santa on December to help for food and toy drive for kids and pets in need of help. Prices are affordable and they always attend you with a smile. My dog loves going to the vet beacuse they always treat him well, and are playful with him. Dr Decosta is a great vet and my dog Casper loves her very much.
