No one gets our Chihuahua more excited than Dr. Metzger! Every time we come in Dr. Metzger shakes our hands then sits on the floor and kisses up on Pappi while Pappi wags his tail and jumps all over Dr. M. When Pappi had knee issues Dr. M explained all the options to us and knew of an expert off the top of his head and talked to him personally to get Pappi in to see him. Pappi had to see Dr. M recently because he had high liver enzyme levels after a vomiting spell and, expectedly, knew what had to be done. But something I saw that separates him from any doctor I've ever met, was how excited Dr. M looked to see Pappi's liver enzyme levels drop down to a healthier level. It's very easy to tell when doctors are faking bedside manner, but he legitimately cares more that any doctor I've ever seen. We saw him once after had to put an animal down and he looked visible distraught. After he hugged Pappi he treated Pappi with the utmost professionalism and knowledge, but it is very rare to find a doctor that cares this much. He is also one of the most knowledgeable doctors (MD or DVM) I know. And his personality towards animals and peoples are the best I've ever seen. WIthout a doubt: best ver I have ever met!

A few years ago, my older dog Foxie,fellto the ground in the middle of a walk. I carried him home, and frantically called my vet so that I could bring him in. The woman on the phone told me there was no appointments available, even after I told her it was an emergency.I looked in the phone book to find the closest veterinary hospital, and found one minutes from my house. I hastily dialed Animal Health Hospital and they told me to bring Foxie in.I rushed down with Foxie, and minutes after we were in the room, he died on the table. Dr. Metzger was warm and sympathetic, but still resolute and strong.Since that day, I have had two emergencies with my dogs, and have been able to bring them in immediately, no questions asked. Thanks to Animal Health Hospital, I have two happy, healthy dogs.I know that Dr. Metzger treats my animals like his own, which is like family.
