The team at Pets Best is comprised of pet owners and pet lovers. Many of us come from the veterinary trade, and most of us have participated in animal rescue.

Every October, we put together a team of employees, family members, friends and dogs to join thousands of others for a 1-mile walk in beautiful downtown Boise, Idaho. The event typically raises tens of thousands of dollars for the Idaho Humane Society – all of which goes directly toward helping homeless animals.

The Gulf Coast oil spill of 2010 reached farther than any of us could have imagined. People lost their jobs and in turn, many pets lost their homes because their owners couldn’t afford to care for them. In fact, shelters in the Gulf Coast area saw a 20% increase in homeless pets within a few weeks of the oil spill.
Pets Best responded by hosting a pet supply drive. In just one week, our employees donated enough toys, dishes, collars, leashes and treats to fill two large boxes for pets in need. Pets Best was a proud sponsor of Race for the Rescues 2010. The event was held in Pasadena, CA and included a 5k, 10k and Kids Fun Run. Ten non-profit dog and cat rescues and animal welfare foundations benefitted from this fantastic event, which was hosted by Glee’s Jayne Lynch, Carrie Ann Inaba from Dancing with the Stars and many other famous faces. Morris Animal Foundation (MAF) is
the largest non-profit foundation dedicated to funding research studies to protect, treat and cure animals, including companion animals, as well as wildlife.
Founded in 1948, MAF has funded 1300 studies with funds approaching $50 million with 100% of all donations going to fund animal health. MAF is now working to raise $30 million to find the cure for canine cancer.
Pet expert and author Arden Moore partnered with Pet Sitters International to create National Dog Party Day. This event raises money for pet charities like Spay and Neuter Project (SNAP), Bideawee and Paws 4 You Rescue.
This organization’s mission is to “advance the role of the veterinary medical community in nurturing positive human-animal interactions in society,” as the human-animal bond is a dynamic, win-win relationship for both humans and animals.
Massachusetts Vest a Dog has raised money since 2000 to purchase bullet proof dog vests for working K-9 police dogs.
The mission for the Magic Bullet Fund is to raise awareness about cancer and direct pet owners who have financial hardship in treating their pet’s cancer to institutions or groups who can help finance the treatments. The founder, Laurie Kaplan, has written a book, Help Your Pet Fight Cancer that provides support and guidance in the stressful time of cancer treatment for pet owners. Help Your Pet Fight Cancer has a wealth of pertinent information about cancer in dogs.
Thousands of pets are euthanized in the United States each year because of the death of the pet owner. 2nd Chance 4 Pets provides education and solutions to veterinarians and to pet owners in an effort to reduce the number of pets unnecessarily euthanized each year due to the death or incapacity of their human companions. 2nd Chance 4 Pets is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization.
The Pet Fund, a non-profit association, provides financial assistance to pet owners of domestic animals who need – but cannot afford – veterinary care. At times, pet owners are unable to provide financially for their pet when care is critical and necessary to save their lives. Through very limited resources the Pet Fund will screen and select worthy recipients for a modest grant to aid in a pet’s care.
In addition, The Pet Fund provides information to pet owners about preventive care, pet insurance programs and financial services which help avoid future emergencies through care and planning.
Founded in 2006 by Cera Reusser, Chase Away K9 Cancer brings together people and dogs from all walks of life to combat and eventually defeat this horrible disease. They're a grassroots effort where donations and net proceeds from merchandise fund canine cancer studies and awareness efforts.
Since it's inception, the effort has raised over $450,000 and has funded nine studies. Much of their support comes one dollar at a time, so every donation makes a difference.
Chase Away K9 Cancer also aims to build a community where people can find comfort and understanding; where no one will say "it's just a dog" and where we can honor the efforts of our volunteers and the dogs that they love.
Their ultimate goal is to see the day where no one will lose a beloved best friend to cancer.
