SPCA International Honors Local Humane Shelter
16 Oct 2007
Los Angeles - October 16, 2007, The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals International (SPCA.COM)
will be on hand at Irwindale Speedway this Saturday October 20, 2007 to recognize
the Inland Valley Humane Society, as the National Shelter of the Week. This takes
place during the NASCAR Toyota All Star Showdown. One of the racecars
will also be sporting SPCA.COM.
The mission of SPCA International is to raise
awareness of the abuse of animals to a global level, to teach and foster good
pet parenting policies, and to promote spay and neuter programs around the
world with the goal of eradicating the need to euthanize healthy and adoptable
companion animals of all ages. The SPCA International accomplishes these goals
through outreach programs and by supporting shelters already working to achieve
these goals.
According
to SPCA International Executive Director Michael Zambotti, “We are excited to be
hosting a distinguished local shelter for an evening of fun and recognition. In
1949, four women in the
Inland Empire were
appalled. They saw the way that stray animals in their community were housed
and treated and decided to do something. Today, the Inland Valley Humane
Society serves nine cities and county areas with a total population of over
750,000. They provide food, shelter and medical treatment to over 400 dogs and
200 cats each day. We are honored to recognize this historic and successful
shelter in our local community.”
During the Toyota All Star Showdown, SPCA.COM will be a featured
group on the #61, Pets Best Insurance, Racing to Save Pets, NASCAR Grand
National racecar.
Every
week, SPCA International chooses an animal shelter somewhere in the
United States
that they feel is not only doing a great job, but also needs a little extra
financial assistance. The mission of SPCA International is to raise awareness
of the abuse of animals to a global level, to teach and foster good pet
parenting policies, and to promote spay and neuter programs around the world
with the goal of eradicating the need to euthanize healthy and adoptable
companion animals of all ages.
The
SPCA also serves as an information and referral resource for animal lovers
throughout the world who seek a shelter or want to adopt a shelter animal, who
have questions about animals, or who wish to join with like-minded advocates to
raise awareness and end cruelty to animals. Visit SPCA International at www.spca.com
Through ShelterBest, Pets Best Insurance recognizes

obstacles. ShelterBest™ provides funds
to shelters and more value for pets adopted from a shelter by making the
insurance even more affordable and easy. Creating awareness and supporting efforts to raise community support for
adopting pets from a shelter will reduce euthanasia and returned pets to
